8115    Contests for Students

Students/General

The board of education approves a selective policy of student participation in contests. However, participation by students in any such activities must be on a purely voluntary basis and at no time can such participation interfere with the instructional program. In high school, the policy or the National Association of Secondary School Principals relative to contests shall serve as a guide.

When students agree to participate in any activity sponsored by an outside organization, it shall be the responsibility or the sponsoring organization to manage the contest and provide the students with detailed information, instructions and rules.

At no time will pressure be applied to enjoin students to participate in any contest sponsored by outside organizations.
