Visits to the Schools
The school committee and staff of the school district encourage members of the community and other interested persons to visit our schools. School improvements often come from suggestions originating as the result of community involvement.
The superintendent is authorized to establish such regulations as will
1.      allow parents and community members to observe our schools
2.      encourage volunteering in our schools/classrooms by parents and community~ members
3.      provide for appropriate hospitality for visitors
4.      channel expressions of approval, as well as constructive criticism, to the school~ community about programs and activities
5.      ensure that such visits will enhance the effect of the educational program rather~ than hinder it, and to ensure the safety of the children
6.      coordinate visits to our schools through the principals to ensure minimal~ disruption to the learning process for students and teachers.
School Visitation Regulations
Parents and community members are encouraged to visit the schools.
To ensure minimal disruption to classroom learning, and to protect the safety and privacy of the students, the following guidelines will be in effect for school visitations:
1.      All visitors will first report to the principal's office before visiting elsewhere in the building or on the campus.
2.      All principals will include visitation regulations in their student and faculty handbooks.
3.      Parents wishing to contact faculty and staff members should do so, when possible, at the beginning or ending of the school day.
4.      Arrangements for a classroom observation should be made, either in writing or by telephone, well in advance of the visit, with the necessary staff member as well as the principal.
5.      The teacher being visited will continue with the regular classroom lesson. Any discussion of the visit should take place at a conference scheduled at another time.
6.      Solicitation during school hours by representatives of agencies for materials, services, or programs may be made only with the approval of the principal.
7.      For the protection of everyone, teachers and students are asked to see that all visitors are courteously directed to the office. For that same reason, all agents, etc. should have permission from the administration office before approaching any person within the building.
8.      Employees in the building shall report to the principal immediately any person loitering on or near the school grounds.~ The principal shall notify the appropriate law enforcement agency by telephone immediately upon receiving the report, and he/she shall notify the superintendent.
