A special meeting of the South Kingstown School Committee was held on June 20, 2007 at the South Kingstown High School Library, 215 Colombia Street, Wakefield RI at 8:00 PM.



MEMBERS PRESENT:  Anthony Mega (Chairperson); Joseph Sweet, Vice Chairperson; Scott Mueller, and Natalie Herbermann



MEMBERS ABSENT: Maureen Cotter and Kevin Jackson



ADMINISTATORS PRESENT:  Robert Hicks, Superintendent



I.          Call to Order:



            Anthony Mega called the Special School Committee meeting of June 20, 2007 to order at 8:05 PM.  



II:                    School Committee Business:



            The Superintendent presented the School Committee the proposal to change the High School starting times, incorporating a delayed start for students on Wednesday mornings with a common planning time block for teachers.  Committee members indicated that it was a good plan that provided a platform to improve the school, and complimented the teachers and their organization for working cooperatively with the administration.  While there are concerns about supervision of students during the morning block, these are resolvable and do not warrant failure to adopt the proposal.



            MSV (1) move to approve the proposal to extend the High School day and incorporate an extended planning time block for teachers as presented.  Mueller, Sweet (4-0-0)
