Math

MATHEMATICS-the following eight mathematics strands are addressed in the curriculum: Numeration & order, Geometry & Measurement, Functions & Algebra, Data & Probability, Problem Solving & Reasoning, Math Skills & Tools, Mathematical Communication, and Putting Mathematics to Work.

· add, subtract, multiply, divide and compare whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

· calculate percent

· order of operations

· work with exponents

· flexibly apply different problem solving strategies learned to solve a problem

· collect, organize, and analyze data using tables and graphs to represent the data

· determine range, mean, median, and mode for a data set

· create, use, and analyze various tables and graphs

· begin using algebraic equations and expressions with substitution and solving for variables

· measure using appropriate units and tooln the customary and metric system

· calculate perimeter, area, and volume

· work in beginning geometry with 2 & 3-dimensional figures

· demonstrate understanding through grade-level projects
